Scoliosis Diagnosis and Treatment

What is our Diagnostic and Therapeutic Philosophy at BOULDER SCOLIOSIS?

We subscribe to the “Four Rs” of Scoliosis Diagnosis and Treatment:

1. Recognition—a proper diagnosis is based on a complete medical history and physical examination. A proper diagnosis is key to all that goes on afterward. Without the correct diagnosis, the patient and physician are barking up the wrong tree.

Our diagnosis often differs from those of the conventional diagnosticians in that we often find a direct physical cause of the scoliosis—seldom is Scoliosis truly “idiopathic.”

2. Reduction—We perform Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) to realign all dislocated and misaligned sacroiliac, pelvic, lumbar, thoracic, and cervical joints. (Click to visit our site about OMT.) This reduces the initial injury to its minimal extent. About 3% of the time, OMT can actually cure the problem and fulfill Step 3.  The earlier that we can see the patient and perform OMT, the better the chance for success by manual therapy, alone.

3. Retention—Perform a procedure that will cause lasting regeneration and preservation of the normal joint alignments. If OMT does not solve the problem, then Prolotherapy can establish lasting retention of the normal joint alignments. (Click to visit our site about Prolotherapy.)

4. Rehabilitation—We specify whatever treatments are necessary to re-establish normal posture and core strength, remedying the poor postural habits and musculoskeletal imbalances that have occurred to compensate for the joint dysfunctions at fault.

Scoliosis is not a life sentence.
It almost always can be treated and remedied without surgery
Based on an accurate, complete diagnosis!
